Emotions Without Words
The Artist is a 2011 French comedy-drama film in the style of a black-and-white silent film or part-talkie and takes place in Hollywood, between 1927 and 1932, focusing on the relationship between a rising young actress and an older silent film star as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the "talkies".
For anyone that thinks they can't watch "old movies", anything in black and white, or foreign made this is the movie to change your mind.
Sumptuous, sad, evocative, funny, and ultimately redeeming. The acting is remarkable, the soundtrack emotional emotions, and it's place in the late 1920s is uncanny.
Oh, and it became the first mostly silent feature to win the Academy Award for best picture since the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929. Top that!
