24hours in Wellington

Flickr: Fog over the harbour 3Hi everyone - I'll be in Wellington for my final (for 18 months) visit this Saturday.

My awesome mates have clubbed together and paid for the flight up and I am still blown away by the gesture, just incredible! So, a long hug to Adam, Paul, Pete and Kath and Sean and Justine!!! Will be staying with another awesome mate, Pete, so large manly handshake to him as well.

What's the plan Stan? Well, I get in around mid-day on the Saturday, tootle around town, get up to Pete's to drop of the stuff (toothbrush) and back into town to prepare for the All Blacks first test against Ireland. The intention is to be in a bar with big screen and great beer. After that ... who knows.

Flickr: Rainbow in Khandallah #2The following morning is up (bright and early?) to have breakie and catch-up with everyone again/for the first time. I'm back on the plane to Christchurch around mid-day completing my last 24 hours in Wellington ... (sad already).

It's an almost common phrase, "We live better than a king of old!" Ok, let's do some a lot of searching and see if that's true in any sense at all BUT first ... Some definitions ... "We all" Almost exclusively this is white, middle-class / middle-level, in the top 10-15%, sort of people. The Difference Between One Million And One Billion

It's feels like a billion is just a bit bigger than a million. Obviously it's bigger but it fits on the same scale as a million, surely. It doesn't. A billion is so so so much bigger than a million. I've trawled the internet finding graphics and videos that show the VAST difference between one million and one billion. Oh, and just to finish with a different misconception about space starting with the classic opening line from the great Douglas Adams and The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy : “Space is big. The office has all been moved around - new desks (with starter handles to raise and lower them), new high(er) speed network and ... the same old work. Everything Changes In A Fixed World

Graveyards eh, we are all drawn to them for a multitude of reasons. I like them for their gothic charm, their memories of people I used to know, and for the peace and quiet. It took me a little Googling to find where Nanna and Grandad Boyle are buried but luckily I had some 2006 photos to help me. Dad is now dead, my child is no longer a child, the horses are probably long gone. The church entrance is exactly the same, those trees are still there, and Nanna and Grandad's gravestone is as solid as ever, but changing with time.
