  5. Pleasure James.

As I've said the NZRU/IRB did promise a "usable" calendar but at the moment it's still in .doc format (DOH!)

I'll be maintaining the Google calendar either way and will update with match scores, links etc

  23. Thanks Mike! Just what I was looking for....

  24. just imported into google calendar...seems the time is off by 1 hour...

e.g. England v Scotland you have
DTSTART:20111001T073000Z (shows up as 5:30pm Sydney time)
    should be
DTSTART:20111001T083000Z (should be 6:30pm Sydney time)

..maybe you created it before daylight savings ended and this wasn't catered for?

A local KO time in the description would be a great help too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. actually...not so sure now....NZ kicks into daylight savings on 25th Sep....Sydney not until 2nd Oct, so maybe it should show as 5:30pm...so you may have it right after all....though some earlier games prior to 25th (DLS) still seem an hour out...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks for putting in the effort, Mike. Much appreciated :-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Awesome work mate. I neeed this in Sweden as there is 0 rugby coverage.

Just check the times though because my thick head keeps coming up with the earlier games being an hour different...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks everyone, spread the word :-)

Timezone: All dates are in NZ - note that the Kiwi summer time kicks in 25th September and the NZ clocks will be going forward an hour (2am will become 3am).

The calendar should automatically reflect your local timezone, especially if you're using Google Calendar. Your summer time may be ending during the RWC and thus may move some of the events by an hour.

Having said all that please let me know if there is a match that you know is wrong and I'll check it out for us all.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Mike - you are a legend! Thanks so much for putting in a the effort. Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Right you are. Fantastic!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pleasure Anonymous and Mike (great name :-)

Pass it on and let the world know we can have usable match schedules despite the IRB

    ReplyDelete
  32. You are the MAN!I have been searching for one with German times for a while

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks Mike! Much appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks Mike this is perfect just about to do the same myself so saved me a job. Thank-you

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous, Evergreen, Marc - pleasure.

I plan to add in links to the match info, maybe TV listings around the world ...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Greeting, Great work, Added to my Google account, however I couldnt add all the appointments in O2K3.. I found I had to save the file, then in OL went through and use the "Import and Export Wisard" and "Import an iCalendar or vCalendar file (.vcs)".

I then modified the ics file and added a "CATEGORIES" attribute.

    ReplyDelete
  37. motardgeeek - sorry that Outlook 2003 didn't have the brains to handle it natively for you and thanks for sharing your workaround

    ReplyDelete
  38. What a great calendar - thanks for taking the effort to do this.

  50. Fantastic work, thanks for the calendar!

Just a small note: Bronze Final loaded on Sat 22/10 in my iCal. But the schedule on the RWC 2011 Facebook page states Fri 21/10 as the date for the match. A glitch, perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks Anonymous (x 2), Joe, Slamp, Fko and especially NDR - yes, I had the Bronze Final game wrong, corrected now - thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks for sharing this.
    Just added it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks Mike, really helpful. Must better than IRB word.doc! :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks YoCGuigui and Stuart.

Stuart - to be fair to the RWC organisation company (@RugbyWorldCup) they are fully aware that their approach has been somewhat limited but in the grand scheme of things it's less of a priority for them.

But hey, the community has stepped in and helped them out - if only they would share it out to all their followers ;-)

  55. what a great app thanks but i'm having a problem getting it to sync with my i phone 4 calendar. Am i doing something wrong or is it just a case of me being a typical prop!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Great thanks - saved me ages having to type them all in.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hey Mike, Reckon you could re-schedule last weekend's AB v Aus match so we can have another crack at it?

    ReplyDelete
  58. excellent. thanks for thinking about that, Mr iCal. the official RWC site doesnt have an ical download. but they did release official apps last week. i was googling around trying to find a way to get the matches onto iCal and there was a link to your site. thanks again...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks Mike! Looking forward to some Great Rugby! Good luck to the AB's from a Saffer...

    cheers,
    Leslie

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thanks, that's awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Absolute legend! Thanks mate. Will pass this on to my rugby club. Go Bokke!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks for the calender, can you do anything about the times of the games too?!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Cheers Mike, fantastic job. By way of reciprocation also found this rather handy scorecard in Excel for those who want to keep tabs on the results...

    ReplyDelete
  64. I share my calendars with my family and friends- now they'll know when it's game time! lol. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Fantastic - saved me the effort of doing one myself :)

Just a question - you say you'll be updating with links and scores etc.

How will you do that? Just update the old entries? I am keen to use your calendar but not if it's going to become cluttered :(

    ReplyDelete
  66. Thanks everyone for the nice comments, I trust it's all working for you.

Scores: I'll be putting the scores in as soon as the final whistle goes - if you don't want to know the score then please DON'T BLAME ME IF YOU GO LOOKING :)

Match report links: I will be putting in a maximum of 3 per match:
    - Official World Cup site
    - Official home side match report
    - Official away side match report

And that's it ... probably ... if I go to a game I'll definitely be blogging it and popping a link in ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. @Vince, thanks for sharing. Shame it's Excel, a public Google Spreadsheet would've been so much cooler ;-)

Still, thanks for sharing, really appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. thanks - will be very useful

    ReplyDelete
  69. Have made an open (anyone can edit) Google Doc version of the Excel spreadsheet Vince found - http://blog.mikeriversdale.co.nz/2011/09/rugby-world-cup-spreadsheet.html

    ReplyDelete
  70. This is some rather awesome work - thanks muchly for sharing!

When you say you'll be posting the results, is that in the Description or in the Title?

My preference is for Description, so that I don't have to see the results if I don't want to.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks so much, works perfect in my iCal (and then synced to my iPhone)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I concur with @Fishbowler - that was why I raised the question originally. It would be great if the title wasn't updated so at a glance we won't know results and if extra links are included, they go into the description rather. That would be ideal but I know it's not up to me ;)

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hey Mike Dood - You have the Wellington games down as being played at Westpac Staduim... But they are at Wellington Regional Staduim !!! lol

    ReplyDelete
  74. Same place, renamed due to sponsorship priorities.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Big thanks from Germany !

    ReplyDelete
  76. Big thanks from Canada, Mike - This is fantastic!! Now, if you could do anything about the 16 hour time difference, that would be much appreciated =0) No? Oh well, it's going to make for some early (!!) mornings. Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Updated Wellington venue with the official IRB/Rugby World Cup name for the stadium - bloody sponsorship naming rights, grr :-)

    ReplyDelete
  78. A rucking good thank you from the Netherlands

    ReplyDelete
  79. Just found your calendar on Google and added it to my Google Calendar. Thank you very much!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Just wanted to say thanks for putting the iCal file together, saved me a lot of hassle! Time zones even stayed perfect and everything.

Hope everyone enjoyed the opening weekend, what a stormer it was. And the game last night in Wellington was brilliant, even had my wife hurtling out of her seat to scream at the players on the pitch :-) Shame Wales lost but just amazing to be there.

I've been subscribed for two or three or four years now thank you very much.
I just wanted to check with you if you do update on a daily basis because at the moment you don't have the Irish or Scottish fixtures for this weekend (11-12th November '17) in the calendar - could you check this out please? thanks man cheers
