I'm A Three-Year-Old Kiwi
It's that time again to celebrate the fact that New Zealand seemingly lets anyone be a citizen and certainly did three years ago to the day as I shook Kerry Prendergast's mayoral hand and became a New Zealand citizen.
I swore an oath the Queen of New Zealand using the non-Bible version. It was quite strange to see how the room was evenly split between Bible oath takers and non. It was also a little weird to have my mate, who also happened to be getting her citizenship, on the other side of the room amongst those that believe in a fella with a beard sitting in the clouds.
But hey, the drinks after was awesome and Paul gave us both our very own New Zealand flag that hangs proudly in Jacks room.
