All The Family Huddled Around A Glowing Laptop

The times when the kids were growing up it was a tradition to have the laptop on and the Northern Hemisphere family watch as the presents are open. A lot has changed since this photo in 2017, the kids are young adults, my Dad is in a home, the Swedish side aren't allowed to travel to Wales due to COVID, and I won't be around the kids this Christmas Day. It's not so much the change, the kids were always gonna move on and with the divorce new rituals have been created. It's more that it's happened in 3 years, 2017 seems both a long long way away (as does January, remember then?), and yet close enough to touch. Whatever your routines are be prepared to change them, but keep the rituals .

Skype is STILL down ... but getting better?

[Update #3] Looking slightly better at 0700 GMT

[Update #2] Ho hum, they must be having kittens over at Skype ... one major fuck up like this and I can imagine a lot of customers merely shift to something else. I wish all those working hard to solve all the best.

just wanted to drop a line that everyone at Skype working on resolving the sign-on issue is still up. We’re fixing issues in our networking software and monitoring the clients getting online with increased success.

It’s been a loooong day (and night) for many and we are gradually moving to new shifts of fresh brains to help out those getting to well deserved few hours of sleep. Be sure that the Skype family as a whole will not retire before you can get back to all the Skype conversations you want, need or just feel like having. Sorry for keeping you split that long.

[Update] Still not working according to their blog:
Hello again,

Everyone at Skype continues to work hard at resolving the current software issue. We are making good progress. We feel that we are on the right track to bring back services to normal.

We thank you for your continued support and are thinking of you every step of the way.

SkypeInI don't know if you know but Skype has had connection issues for the past 24 hours and it's still down ... they are working on it.
Another reason to keep with a hard wired land line and/or mobile connection I s'pose

On another issue - I have a Wellington (04) SkypeIn phone number, +64 (0)4-889 0227, which doesn't work from Vodafone mobiles. Anyone know why - leave a comment
