A List Of Events That Used To Be At The Summer Olympics
New ones come but rarely do old sports leave the Olympic arena, here's a list of events that now have a 'forever Olympic champion' ... or in some case not coz no-one was good enough.
There's a couple of events that have never had a gold medal winner, Vocal for instance, imagine being the person that wrote a song and you were deemed the best of the competition but not good enough for gold, or even silver - how bad was everyone else?
Art
I s'pose the strangest for us are the art events:
Art competitions formed part of the modern Olympic Games during its early years, from 1912 to 1948. The competitions were part of the original intention of the Olympic Movement's founder, Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin. Medals were awarded for works of art inspired by sport, divided into five categories: architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture.
Other 'weird' events
These are a few others that are no longer apart of the Summer Olympics schedule that caught my eye and made me smile - the Plunge is particularly fascinating.
