I've Meme'd
The Queen of Petone meme'd crazy chicken lady of Lower Hutt who has passed on the pain to me :-) Wendy claims it to be her "first and last" but I am fully aware of how ego-glorious it is to have such a thing pop into ones RSS reader and look forward to seeing her next meme posting.

What is your current obsession?
Hmm, not being on-line quite as much ... no, it's getting quality stuff via the screen when I am on-line and if that can't happen, like TV, TURN! IT! OFF!
What is your weirdest obsession?
Nothing I obsess about is weird, is it?
Golly, I don't really know - really can't think of something I am actually obsessed by, everything in moderation, no?
What are you wearing today?
Christ, sitting here at this moment I am in total slob mode - black but warm track suit bottoms, white socks (bought for $2 for a fancy dress party but can't stop wering them, warrrm) and a yellow T-shirt and warm jumper. I am a fashion mess but no-one except the painters need know.
What's for dinner?
Very good question - suggestions anyone?
Oooh, no, it's left over curry for Liz & myself with the kids having something else chicken/rice based.
What would you eat for your last meal?
Isn't that weird, I've been talking to people about this after hearing Phill Jupitus mention it on the Perfect Ten podcast. Mine would be fresh, light and crusty bread just cooked, butter (not marg, real, farm produced butter) and the best cheese I could lay my hands upon. With seconds.
What's the last thing you bought?
The Beano comic, a science experiment magazine and a Peppa Pig comic.
What are you listening to right now?
Nothing. The hum of the laptop fan, the house creaking as it warms up and that's it.

What do you think of the person who tagged you?
Passionate, courageous, an individual and ever so slightly mad in a nice and energetic way. Also someone that is upbeat, sees the possibilities in life and definitely, DEFINITELY positive!
If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
What school event has been the most useful and why?
I think writing and acting in Monmouth Comprehensive School's first ever "6th form review". Taught me that working in teams is the ONLY way to go.
If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Somewhere European, maybe Paris, possibly London. I'm in the mood for "old" at the moment and so somewhere solid with it's feet firmly and solidly planted in centuries of history, tradition and a sense of knowing who it is. Whilst I love the "newness" of NZ the fact it's still finding it's sense of worth in the wide world can sometimes (like now) be a little wearing.
Which language do you want to learn?
Welsh or Māori (maybe "and").
Siaron could help there, no ... long way away I s'pose.
What is your favourite colour?
Just like Wendy the best colour in the world to me is green.
It's an old story but the final decision to come back from Aussie was determined by the colour green (NZ is it, Australia is blue).
What is your favourite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
Can't think ... sorry.
What is your dream job?
Bookshop owner - think Black Books without the blackness and shouting. Somewhere where people are as in love with information as I am ... maybe a library, maybe National Archives. But really, a small bookshop would make me so happy I would cry.
What's your favourite magazine?
Probably Mojo although I do have a soft spot for NewScientist as well.
And if I was back in the UK I would be subscribed to Private Eye!
If you had NZ$250 now, what would you spend it on?
Um, er, a DVD of something glorious, like a complete and everything set of something BBC-ish
Describe your personal style?
I am challenging, confident, slightly weird and "un-boxable" with a hint of "not quite sure about him" about me. I am a head-thrown back laughter lover of life and am so deeply loyal to my family and close friends it can sometimes get in the way. I have very high expectations which I constantly fall below ... but that's ok.
What are you going to do after this?
Read a book.
What are your favourite films?
Last night it was The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button but really, on a desert island it's gonna be Casablanca or Lord Of The Rings (extended and everything added in versions).
What's your favourite fruit?
Julian Clary.
What inspires you?
My kids and my wife.
I see myself in Jack and it inspires me to be so much better at being a Dad than I currently am (not that I'm bad but just want to be soooo much better).
Do you collect anything?
Programmes from whenever I go to a live event - not as many in recent years as I'd like but that'll return to me I'm sure.
And Carry On DVDs - it's a weird British thing in me that I refuse the naval gaze about and just wallow within.
Your favourite books?
Mo Willems from Wendy was an inspired choice I have to say :-)
For me it's The Complete Sherlock Holmes and Lord of the Rings. All of my favourite books (oh, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, His Dark Materials, The Dark Tower are also up there in my faves list ... and the Milligan War Memoirs) are all books that are big (series normally) and invite you into a complete world that isn't real - once in I am normally lost and so don't come a-knocking.
What are you currently reading?
The final of Tad William's Otherland series borrowed ages ago from some friends.
Go to your book shelf, take down the first book with a red spine you see, turn to page 26 and type out the first line:
"Came the war, however, and Spike found himself a gunner in the Royal Artillery" - The Goon Show Companion, A History and Goonography by Roger Wilmut and Jimmy Grafton (buy a copy)
